Notes

Re-ID 2026-08-15 from all 25 field + 8 macro images (batch reviewed 1). Caespitose on well-rotted hardwood; cap dry, densely woolly-tomentose, cream-yellow in field but rusty-orange under scope; gills close, orange->rusty; whitish fibrillose stems fused at base, faint cortina/ring zone. KOH tested in field (result unrecorded). Leading Gymnopilus over Pholiota on scope color. TO CONFIRM: spore-print color, taste (Gymnopilus bitter), record KOH, micro (spore ornamentation/cystidia).
